She didn’t look back.
He watched as she walked out of the room, her steps quick, her breath uneven — as if staying there another second would suffocate her.
And maybe it would.
Because he had killed her once.
And she couldn’t forgive that.
His hands clenched into fists, the cold metal of the shackles digging into his skin. He had seen her angry before, annoyed, exasperated — but never like this.
This was hatred. And this time, it was directed at him.
A War Between Them
The silver-haired man leaned against the table, crossing his arms. Amused.
“You always do this”, he mused. “You love her, you protect her… and then you become the reason she breaks.”
His jaw clenched. “I never wanted to hurt her.”
“But you did.” The man’s smirk deepened. “And now she finally sees what you really are.”
He knew what this was. A mind game. A push to turn them against each other completely.
And it was working.
She was gone.
And he didn’t know if she would ever come back.
Her Battle With Herself
She stormed down the cold hallways, her breath sharp, her hands trembling.
She didn’t stop. She couldn’t stop.
Because if she did — the memories would consume her.
Visions of a battlefield. His sword piercing through her.
The betrayal in her final breath.
Had she always been this blind?
Her whole body burned with a truth she didn’t want.
He had killed her.
And yet… He had also saved her.
Risked his life for her.
Bled for her.
Why?
Why had he done all of it if he had once been her enemy?
Her heart pounded. It was too much. The weight of it all pressed against her ribs, suffocating.
She hated him.
Didn’t she?
The Twist She Didn’t See Coming
The door at the end of the hallway opened.
And standing there — waiting for her — wasn’t an enemy.
It was the woman from her dreams.
The one who always whispered warnings in the back of her mind.
The past version of herself.
She gasped, stepping back. “You — ”
The woman smiled softly, a painful kind of knowing in her eyes.
“Now you understand, don’t you?” the woman whispered. “The truth isn’t as simple as right or wrong.”
Her stomach twisted. No.
She didn’t want this.
She didn’t want to understand.
Because if she did…
She might start to forgive him.
And she wasn’t ready for that.
